Today we launched her. I've planned a little get together tomorrow in Moss Bay, and need to get the boat in the water so we can go on a little cruise with a barbeque afterwards. Should be fun. Patrick and I rented a truck (mine's a piece that needs some work) and hauled her down to Shilshole Bay Marina - Seattle, Washington where there is a public boat launch. She launched like a breeze, with no problems. I couldn't believe it. We started to motor out into Puget Sound, but it was awfully breezy and there's some pretty rough water for a boat that I'm not familiar with yet. So we ducked back into Shilshole and went out the south end and up the Ship Canal for my first experience going through the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks I drove the boat, and Patrick tended the lines. I've watched boats going through the locks many times, and I felt as if we looked as much like we knew what we were doing as any of them ever do. Those guys are professionals at handling other people/boats and can make the lowliest amature feel like a pro. We motored through Lake Union, the Montlake cut, and across Lake Washington. We arrived in Moss Bay only about a half hour behind schedule. We moored at the public dock there ($8.00 per night, no hookups, maximum 72 hours per week) and waited for my wife, Tina who still had to go to work. She arrived, and we took her to work. I took Patrick back to his car at Shilshole, and went back and loaded our stuff into the boat, and went and picked up Tina at work. We went back to the boat and spent our first night on the water.
